President’s Message
John B. Forrest, MD
Dear Colleagues:
Many things have changed in health care since our last communication.
Massive Federal legislation has been signed into law changing
over time the delivery of health care in the United States.
The implications of these changes may not yet be fully realized.
Despite these changes, the objectives
of the South Central Section of
the American Urological Association
remain constant. We continue to
serve our membership by providing
the very best in the science of our
profession at our annual meeting.
This year is no dierent with our
annual meeting showcasing the
best in urology. Under the direction of our program director Dr.
Anthony Smith, our scientic program with be informative, stimulating
and provocative. Our socioeconomic program will be timely and informative.
We are pleased to welcome back Wayne M. Sotile, PhD for part
two of his presidential guest speaker lecture, this year focusing on leadership,
which will again be of interest to both physicians and spouses.
This all occurs against the backdrop of The Greenbrier in White Sulphur
Springs, West Virginia. It is truly one of the best, if not the best, resort in
the United States.
We look forward to seeing all of you this fall at The Greenbrier.

In Anticipation of Your Trip
The resort's expansive grounds and many venues offer opportunities for different types of dress during your stay. Those planning to participate in an equestrian activity will want to read on for appropriate safety information in regard to their dress. Those wanting to remember an occasion or celebrate the grandeur of the resort may want to plan ahead for dinner in The Greenbrier's most formal venue, the Main Dining Room. This Southern tradition still reins during the dinner hour where men are still required to wear jacket and tie and ladies an evening suit or dress. Children are required to dress in a similar manner.

The Capitol Steps, the only group in America that attempts to be funnier than Congress, is a troupe of current and former congressional staffers who monitor events and personalities in and around Washington, DC and around the world, and then takes a humorous look at serious issues while providing a laugh. The Washington Post says: “You have watched ‘Saturday Night Live’ and you tune in to Comedy Central every night for ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report.’ But when it comes to satire, you haven’t seen the real thing until you have been to the Capitol Steps.” It will be a night to remember.
